Why is there a price difference between Matte and Gloss finishes?

Gloss spoke guards are printed on the reverse side of the polycarbonate, while Matte printing is done directly on the surface. The Matte process takes nearly twice as long, which makes it more costly — but it provides a premium, non-reflective finish with a distinct look and feel.
